William Armstrong is a post-war second generation American abstract Expressionist. His paintings include abstract works, figurative abstract paintings, and paintings that appear to be realistic but are conceptually abstract, mere figurative representations of abstract concepts. Armstrong’s works are in the same tradition as those of Hans Hoffman, Willem de Kooning, and Lee Krassner. Over the course of his career he has experimented with different techniques, mediums, and subject matters. His works are well represented in collections across Europe and North America.
